Massage Can Effectively Be Used To:

Promote faster healing of strained muscles, sprained ligaments, fractures, and reduce formation of excessive scar tissue. It relieves pain, anxiety, stress, and depression. Massage increases circulation and range of motion, reduces blood pressure and heart rate and helps a wide range of medical conditions including arthritis, carpal tunnel syndrome, headaches, insomnia, and TMJ.

Massage Therapies

European/Swedish Massage: Manipulation of the soft tissues of the body by a combination of various movements such as stroking, kneading, and friction. The use of oils, creams, lotions, and hot or cold therapy may be used as well as passive and active joint movement.

Aromatherapy Massage: Swedish massage combined with essential oils which are specially blended for each individuals needs.

(The above two treatments are available as a general or deep tissue massage.)

Oriental Massage:Oriental bodywork is based on an ancient healing system which focuses on the balance and movement of energy (Qi) within the body. This technique affects muscles, CranioSacral rhythm, and all the major systems of the body.

Amma- Hand and finger pressure is used to stimulate pressure points along the meridians of the body. No oils are used but the practitioner may apply liniments if needed.

Thai- An intense form of stretching done on a mat. The therapist will use their own body (hands, knees, legs & feet) to allow the patients body to experience maximum stretching into yoga like positions. (Loose, comfortable clothing should be worn.)

Shiatsu- Japanese technique using the same finger pressure as Amma and incorporating some of the same stretching as Thai. (Loose, comfortable clothing should be worn.)

Medical Massage: Therapy for specific physical problems. The areas affected are focused on by using many different types of techniques and modalities, all of which help release the chronic as well as acute areas of tension and pain.

Foot Reflexology: A form of compression massage based on the idea that stimulation of specific pressure points on the feet and hands affects other areas and organs of the body.

Sports Massage: Based on Swedish massage, incorporating a wide range of techniques such as deep tissue, compression, cross fiber, trigger point therapy, and stretching. Each sport and athletic event uses muscle groups in different ways. Therefore this therapy is designed to address those specific areas that are relevant to the individuals athletic activity.

Pregnancy Massage: Relaxing and soothing strokes are used to help alleviate the stress and strains of childbearing. Excellent for backaches, edema and helps to increase the flow of oxygen, blood and nutrients to both mother and child.

Infant Massage: Gentle and soothing techniques are used to nurture and relax baby. Very beneficial for colicky babies. We also offer a class to teach the mom and/or dad to massage the baby.

Chair Massage: Is given in a specially designed portable chair which allows the therapist to work the head, neck, shoulders, back, arms, and hands. No oils are used and no removal of clothing is required. Excellent for the person on the run who only has 10 to 30 minutes to spare. A great coffee or lunch break!
